Your business
already has a
memory. Nobody
can read it.

Skein indexes what you already have, and writes the page you would have written before the call.

01 · THE PROBLEM

Context dies between people, tools and months

The retainer was agreed in an email in March. The reason it changed is in a call note. The person who knows both left in June. Every AI tool you own starts from zero every morning, because none of them has the one thing that would make them useful: what happened here before.

02 · THE DESIGN

Index the source. Do not copy it.

What the category does

Copy every row into the graph

Ten million invoices become ten million nodes. The import runs for hours, the graph is stale the moment it finishes, and refreshing it costs an afternoon nobody spends.

What Skein does

Summarise them where they live

Ten million invoices become one summary per customer and a pointer to the rows. The totals are real, computed over every row. The rows never move.

03 · THE OUTPUT

A brief, not a hairball

Every product in this category opens on a search box or a graph visualisation. Both serve the person who already knew what they were looking for, which is the person who did not need a graph. Skein opens on a document.

That last line is the feature. No competitor tells a buyer what its graph does not know. It ships as a page, a PDF and a mail draft.

04 · THE ECONOMICS

The three loudest complaints in this market are one root cause

What buyers complain aboutCauseSkein
Every record costs a model callLLM builds the graphZero model calls
Facts that were never saidLLM builds the graphForeign keys and headers
Ingest takes hoursLLM builds the graphOne pass, no inference queue
Data leaves the buildingHosted by defaultNothing leaves the machine
Entity resolution is wrongGenuinely hardShared. We ask instead of guessing
No SOC 2Time and moneyShared. Not started

Because the graph costs nothing per record to build, the graph is never the upsell. Competitors meter what we give away.

05 · GETTING IN

Two steps, and there is no third

Step one

Install Python, once

Nothing else. No database to stand up, no account, no service to sign up for, no driver to compile. macOS and Windows.

Step two

Unzip and double click

A window opens, your browser follows. Point it at a folder, a mailbox export, a spreadsheet, or type your database details into six boxes.

The database drivers ship inside the product, so a machine with nothing installed connects to PostgreSQL and MySQL on the first try. Nothing is written to your graph until you have seen the plan and approved it.

06 · PRICE

Installs fund the platform

Install
$9,500
one time, about two weeks
  • Schema fitted to the business
  • Two sources connected
  • Wired into Claude Code or Cursor
  • Name review and one training session
Build
$24,000
one time
  • Everything in Install
  • Five sources
  • Ontology built for the business
  • Console branded for them
Operate
$1,500–4,000
per month
  • Hosting and monitoring
  • Schema evolution
  • Quarterly review
  • Support

Sell Install first, even to a buyer who could afford Build. It ends with a working brief on their own data, and the upgrade sells itself once they have read one.

07 · WHAT WE DO NOT HAVE

The slide every deck leaves out

No SOC 2, no HIPAA, no BAA. Not started. For an install where the data never leaves the customer's own machine, the audit surface is theirs rather than ours. That is an argument, not a certificate, and some buyers will need the certificate.

Entity resolution is real work. Everyone in this market claims it and nobody has solved it. We put ambiguous names in a queue and ask, which measured 1.00 precision against 0.82 for accepting everything.

One person has run the onboarding, once. Somebody who did not build it has not yet connected a database cold. That is what the review copy is for.

Putting this in the room early is not modesty. A buyer in this category has already been sold certainty by somebody else and did not believe it.

THE ASK

Read one brief on your own data, then decide

Two weeks, fixed price, ends with a document you can hand to somebody who will never open a console. If the brief is not worth the money, do not buy the platform.
